In Comparative International Media Systems we got a chance to critique media artifacts that were really quite amazing. Through critiquing these docu-works I got a chance to watch some great movies like Pushpaka Vimanamu and Black. I also got a chance to look at these artifacts through different eyes. To critique a work, I’ve found means a critic needs to be able to separate concepts in a documentary. A critic also should be able to give positive and negative feedback that helps the creator. A critic should be creative so that he/she may be able to see the big picture, but also be able to break it down into smaller pieces and dissect and suggest change. A critic should look at things in the artifact like the use of language such as correctiveness and clarity. A critic should also be able to take apart each scene to look at each shot, like the angles or the zoom of focus. A critic must be able to dissect the editing as well. A critic must able to these things and much more without bias or prejudice of the work. This task was definitely hard but rewarding.
